The role of non-zinc metal addition during hot dip galvanizing is as follows:
1. Adding zinc, aluminum and gold to improve the brightness of the galvanized layer
Due to the high temperature of the zinc solution, the Zn-Fe alloy phase layer continues to grow after the zinc liquid is extracted from the workpiece. The mixed structure of the Zn-Fe alloy phase layer and the pure zinc layer is formed on the surface of the workpiece, and the surface of the galvanized layer is light gray. Adding aluminum (containing aluminum in an amount of about 0.03% to 0.05%) can obtain a relatively bright galvanized layer. This is the same as the low-temperature batch hot-dip galvanizing, but the high-temperature hot-dip galvanizing process has a higher aluminum content than the low-temperature batch hot-dip galvanizing.
2. Adding zinc alloy to prevent excessive oxidation of zinc liquid
In the high-temperature hot-dip galvanizing process, the oxidation of zinc liquid is further aggravated under high temperature conditions. Therefore, the addition of aluminum can reduce the oxidation rate of zinc liquid.
3. Add lead to improve the adhesion strength of galvanized layer
In the high-temperature hot-dip galvanizing process, the phase thickness of the Zn-Fe alloy phase layer is larger than that in the low-temperature batch hot-dip galvanizing process, so the brittleness of the galvanized layer is increased and the adhesion is lowered. At this time, the lead addition can improve the high-temperature hot-dip galvanizing. The galvanized layer has insufficient adhesion.
