Wulian County Stone Festival Opening Industrial Park settled in the street town

On April 6th, the former party committee of Wulian County Street Town was instigated and lively, and the majority of stone people gathered together to celebrate the annual “Stone Festival”. On the same day, the city's stone industry stopped production for one day, and nearly 40,000 stone workers enjoyed their own festivals.

Due to the large number of mountainous areas in the street town of Wulian County, the earliest industrial base is mainly fruit trees. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the street town turned from the forestry industry to the stone processing industry and transformed into a street industry.

The development of stone industry in the street town has been based on rich stone resources, giving full play to the advantages of resources, vigorously developing the private economy mainly based on the stone industry, and being awarded the “Hometown of Granite in China” by the China Stone Association. The street town of Wulian County is Jiangbei's largest stone industry base, a variety of semi-finished products of stone products are sold all over the world, especially the excellent stones such as “Wu Lianhong” and “Five Lotus” are well known.

At present, there are 889 stone factories in the town and 206 mines. There are more than 1,000 production households, with an annual production of 40 million square meters of plates and 2 million cubic meters of waste materials. The development of Wulian Stone Industry has contributed to the economic development of street towns for 20 years, but it has also brought some problems. Stone processing plants are mostly concentrated on the roadside. Many processing plants only focus on production, neglecting the treatment of stone waste residue, which has a great impact on the local ecological environment.

Dong Yanping, president of the Wulian Stone Association, said that the street town has already planned to complete the "stone industrial park" with an area of ​​12.5 square kilometers. After the completion of the project, some enterprises that meet the standards will gradually enter the industrial park. It is expected that by the end of 2013, all stone enterprises along the street will enter the park and form a whole. The entry of stone enterprises not only makes stone enterprises more excellent and healthier development, but also protects the surrounding ecology and provides a better quality human living environment.
