A new species of chestnut mushroom cultivated in suburbs

A few days ago, chestnut mushrooms in Dazhuangke Township, Yanqing County, Beijing were harvested, marking the success of the first trial of chestnut mushrooms in Yanqing. Chestnut Mushroom is also known as Grifola frondosa. It is a kind of food and medicine combined with fungi. The meat is soft, tastes like chicken, and is crispy like magnolia. Its nutrition and taste are better than those of the king of mushrooms.

This year, Beijing Huagou Village Fruit Specialty Cooperative appointed Professor Wen Hua'an, a professor at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to hold two training classes for planting chestnut mushrooms and invested 150,000 yuan to build a bactericidal chamber, sawdust processing room, laboratory, planting experimental room, etc. At the same time, it purchased machinery and equipment worth 60,000 yuan, such as crushing, flooding, and testing. From Qianxi County, Hebei Province, 20,000 rods of quality bacteria were introduced and mobilized into the community to test and plant chestnut mushrooms. The planting area was 21 mu (15 mu under the forest, 4 mu under the courtyard, and 1 mu under the house) and the trial planting has now been successful. Lu Hanfa, a warm-water grower, said: “He planted 0.5 mu of chestnut mushrooms and he could harvest 5 tons that year. He invested a total of 11,000 yuan in costs. After recovering the cost, he said that the net income could be 15,000 yuan.” According to experts, the average yield of chestnut mushrooms per acre is 1600 kilograms of fresh weight, and chestnut mushrooms planted each year can earn a net income of 30,000 yuan per mu.
