Academician Zou Guangtian won the Jilin Province Science and Technology Special Contribution Award

On February 28th, the Governor of Jilin Province, Bayin Chaolu, presented the winner of the 2013 Jilin Province Science and Technology Special Contribution Award in the conference hall of the Jilin Provincial Government. The awards are selected every two years, no more than two people each time, in recognition of scientific and technological workers in Jilin Province who have made major breakthroughs in the frontier of contemporary science and technology or have made outstanding achievements in the development of science and technology. Academician Zou Guangtian of Jilin University won this honor. Academician Zou Guangtian has long been engaged in the research of static high-pressure physics and super-hard materials, and led the establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials. He and his collaborators have pioneered a series of in-situ ultra-high pressure measurement experimental systems and experimental techniques with independent intellectual property rights in China, and developed many key experimental techniques in the generation, calibration and laser heating of hydrostatic pressure at millions of atmospheres; For the first time in the world, more than 200 high-pressure new phases, a variety of new pressure-induced phase transition types and novel pressure effects have been discovered and identified, and some new pressure-induced phase transition mechanisms have been proposed. He is one of the first physicists in the world to carry out high-pressure research on the Earth and planet matter, and has done a lot of pioneering work in this field. He is also one of the main pioneers of domestic super-hard multifunctional film materials and multi-functional high-pressure phase materials. He has jointly developed the first domestic CVD diamond film, the world's first diamond film selectively grown according to design patterns. A heterogeneous epitaxial single crystal diamond film is used for the first time in the world to realize the heat sink of a CVD diamond film for a semiconductor laser. These early research results laid the foundation for the research and application of subsequent CVD diamonds in China.

After more than half a century of hard work and hard work, Academician Zou Guangtian has become a leading figure in the field of high-voltage physics in China and an internationally renowned high-pressure physicist. He has served as the vice chairman of the two international high-voltage science and technology associations, and has served as the chairman of important academic conferences at home and abroad. He has made outstanding contributions to the development of high-pressure science and super-hard multi-functional new materials and the cultivation of outstanding talents.
