China's third-generation nuclear power industry system is basically formed

"Based on the world's first batch of four advanced pressurized water reactor projects, the third generation of nuclear power technology is being transformed into reality from the drawings in China. It also promotes China's nuclear power in R & D and design, engineering construction, equipment manufacturing, operation and management of the four major The key links of various capabilities continue to make breakthroughs.” Wang Binghua, chairman of the National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, said in an interview recently: “In the past three years, China’s third-generation nuclear power industry system has basically taken shape.”

Three years ago, the birth of "State Nuclear Power", which was responsible for the three-generation strategic self-reliance of nuclear power in China, was regarded as a major breakthrough in China's nuclear power system reform. In the past three years, the state's major decision to "introduce AP1000 third-generation nuclear power technology, unify the technical route, and realize the independent development of China's nuclear power" is being implemented by the "National Nuclear Power"; China's AP1000 relying on project construction, domestic AP1000 standard design, equipment localization Major progress has been made in the major special research and development of the CAP1400, and the nuclear power industry in China and its upstream and downstream industrial chains have thus gained tremendous vitality.

The construction of the first batch of AP1000 units progressed smoothly and can be put into commercial operation on time

The four units of Zhejiang Sanmen Nuclear Power Station and Shandong Haiyang Nuclear Power Station have been identified as the autonomous support projects for the introduction of AP1000 technology in China. They are the first batch of AP1000 units in the world and their progress has attracted worldwide attention. According to plan, the first units of the two nuclear power plants will be connected to the grid for power generation in August 2013 and February 2014, respectively.

On March 31, 2009, Sanmen No. 1 unit nuclear island poured the first concrete tank, marking the start of the construction of the world's first AP1000 main reactor. On June 22, 2010, Haiyang No. 2 unit successfully completed the pouring of the first concrete tank, and the four units relying on the project all entered the main construction phase.

"As of now, more than 20 milestones have been successfully completed for the construction of 4 units, and the overall progress of the construction is basically in line with the planned schedule." Wang Binghua said that although the design delay of AP1000's design company Westinghouse has a great impact on the progress of the project, So far, it will not affect the installation of main equipment starting in April of next year. The unit will still have the conditions for commercial operation on schedule.

He explained that the advantage of this project lies in adopting the advanced concepts and methods of "standardized design, factory prefabrication, and modular construction". The amount of construction and installation activities has dropped drastically, helping to control the progress of project construction.

What's more, in the process of converting the world’s most advanced nuclear power technology from drawing to engineering practice, the Chinese side has made independent innovations and made unremitting efforts to overcome multiple difficulties and created a number of new records in the history of China’s nuclear power construction, ensuring that the project progresses as scheduled.

“With the advancement of the localized AP1000 standard design and the preparatory work for the inland AP1000 nuclear power and coastal AP1000 follow-up projects, China has initially developed a standardized design, factory prefabrication, modular construction, professional management, and self-construction. Three generations of nuclear power construction new road." Wang Binghua said proudly.

Localization rate of 55% to improve the overall capabilities of the nuclear power industry

When introducing the AP1000 technology, the Chinese put forward the "three 100%" requirements, that is, 100% to meet the needs of the first four units of the project construction, 100% guarantee the complete transfer of AP1000 technology, 100% realize the localization of AP1000 key equipment. Among them, it is particularly important to realize the localization of key equipment. Zhang Guobao, director of the National Energy Administration, said: "Promoting localization of nuclear power technology and equipment is a national strategy."

AP1000 equipment has high technical requirements and is difficult to manufacture. AP1000 was first built in China. It is a severe test for domestic equipment manufacturing industry and is also a rare historical opportunity. "National Nuclear Power" actively organizes and coordinates domestic manufacturing enterprises to absorb or independently solve problems through technology, and promotes the localization of AP1000 equipment, achieving substantial breakthroughs and progress.

The main pipeline of a nuclear power plant is considered to be the "large artery" of a nuclear power plant and is one of the key nuclear equipments of a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant. The 11 nuclear power generating units in operation at this stage in China are all using the second-generation nuclear power technology. Their main pipelines are mainly made of stainless steel castings and all are purchased from abroad. In order to meet the 60-year design life of three generations of nuclear power plants, the AP1000 nuclear power unit has for the first time adopted an ultra-low carbon nitrogen-controlled stainless steel monolithic forging technology. 4-inch and larger nozzles are required to be forged integrally with the main pipe. Welding is not allowed, and the material requirements are high. It is very difficult to manufacture, and it can be called the world's most difficult nuclear power main pipe manufacturing. After nearly two years of hard work, China's double, China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and other equipment manufacturing companies, successfully achieved the main pipeline of the localization. After localization, the cost has been greatly reduced. The main pipeline of each unit can save over 200 million yuan.

“At present, the localization rate of key equipment has reached 55%, and key technologies, including main pipelines, pressure vessels, steam generators, and main pumps, have all achieved breakthroughs.” Sun Hanhong, deputy general manager of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, proudly announced that China has More than 40 equipment manufacturers meet the international standards for the AP1000 supply equipment, China's late AP1000 construction will be mainly supplied by the domestic equipment manufacturers.

At the same time, phased results have been achieved in the introduction, digestion, and absorption of technology. The first batch of 27 technology transfer execution units are stepping up to absorb AP1000 technology. The results of digestion and absorption are reflected in R&D and design, equipment manufacturing, engineering construction, and operation management.

Wang Binghua disclosed that in the AP1000 localization standard design, the preliminary design, preliminary safety analysis report and long-cycle equipment procurement technical documents for inland nuclear power standard design have been completed, and the construction drawing design before the start of the main project is underway. “Ensure that by the end of 2010, the first batch of inland AP1000 nuclear power stations designed by the domestic standard will have technically guaranteed conditions for pouring the first concrete tank.”

Insist on innovation and create China's advanced nuclear power brand

The introduction of AP1000 is only the first step in the third-generation nuclear power technology autonomy process, and the key lies in digestion and absorption and re-innovation. To this end, the country has set up a major special project for a large-scale advanced pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant. The goal is to develop a large-scale advanced pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology brand with China's independent intellectual property rights through the re-innovation on the basis of mastering the AP1000 technology.

The code-name demonstration project for this major technology is CAP1400, which means China's advanced passive nuclear power technology with an installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts. C stands for China. The nuclear power plant is located in Shidao Bay, Rongcheng, Weihai City, Shandong Province and jointly funded by the National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation and Huaneng Group.

Wang Binghua disclosed that the main body of the site investigation has been completed and optimized layout of the general layout has been completed; the preliminary feasibility study report has passed the review; completed and reported the project's safety analysis report and environmental impact assessment report. According to the plan, this "middle" prefix nuclear power plant will be built in 2013 and will be connected to the grid at the end of 2017. By then, China will have the ability to export complete sets of nuclear power technology.

While “going global” must be practical, Wang Binghua advocates that the CAP1400 software and hardware equipment should be based on me. Therefore, we must strengthen the basic R&D work in the core links of the industrial chain. At present, "National Nuclear Power" is embarking on the establishment of a specialized enterprise technology center, including the establishment of a national-level R & D and testing center, and the establishment of a national nuclear power software technology center. It is expected that in 2010, the "national nuclear power" investment in science and technology will reach 1.21 billion yuan.

Wang Binghua once told Jack Allen, senior vice president of Westinghouse, USA: “Westinghouse is a doctoral tutor. China has paid a high tuition fee and hopes that the growth of the National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation student can satisfy the satisfaction of Botswana.” Alan said with awe: “This student is not an ordinary student and has grown too fast. Now it is a partner of Westinghouse, but will soon become an opponent.”

Wang Binghua told reporters that the story means that the "National Nuclear Power" has the dream of becoming "West China House" and wants to make unremitting efforts for China to become a nuclear power in the world while becoming a world nuclear power.
