Delayed coking of super heavy residue has been successful

Sinochem’s new network news After two years of full demonstration and equipment technological transformation, the delayed coking industrial trial of Venezuela’s super heavy oil residue designed by China Petroleum Engineering Construction Company’s East China Design Branch Co., Ltd. was successfully completed in Liaohe Petrochemical Coking Plant. The device completed a 170-hour trial run. This is the first domestic breakthrough in foreign technical barriers. PetroChina Liaohe Petrochemical Company has the first set of delayed coking industrial equipment that is suitable for processing 100% Venezuela residue.

According to reports, the delayed coking industrial test of Venezuela’s heavy oil slag oil is one of the key topics for China’s oil major science and technology project, a key technology research project for low-grade heavy oil lightweighting. The adaptation of the delayed coking industrial test plant was undertaken by China Petroleum Engineering Construction Corporation East China Design Branch. In more than two years, the technical staff of East China Design Branch has solved many key technologies such as coking of furnaces, safe production of equipment, and improved liquid collection and heating furnace rate, forming a delayed coking complete set of technology for CNPC Venezuela’s super heavy oil. It is reported that only two U.S. companies in the world had the oil coking process technology in Venezuela, which was applied in eight refineries in Venezuela and the United States. It can process 100% of Venezuela's overweight slag oil. The success of this industrial test marks that China Petroleum has become the third company in the world with delayed coking technology for Venezuela’s overweight oil residue with independent intellectual property rights, which has important practical significance for improving the processing technology of China’s poor quality heavy oil.
