Taiwan plans to use renewable energy in 20% of its generating capacity in 2025

According to the Taiwan Times Information reported on August 2, according to the new energy policy planned by relevant parties in Taiwan, the capacity of renewable energy equipment will account for 20% of the total capacity of the power generation equipment in 2025, natural gas will increase to 40%, and nuclear energy will Slip to 5%.

According to the report, in 2025, the capacity planning for renewable energy power generation equipment in Taiwan will reach 12,000 MW, of which offshore wind power and land wind power will total 4,200 MW, and solar photovoltaic 3,100 MW. The rest are hydroelectric power generation, waste and ocean energy power generation.

The report pointed out that the cost of power generation may be greatly increased in this case, but at present the Taiwan side does not adjust the tariff.

Among the current sources of electricity in Taiwan, the total capacity of traditional thermal power generation, including coal-fired, gas-fired, and fuel-fired power plants, accounts for about 70% of the total, while nuclear power accounts for about 10%.
